🧑‍🏫 How to Create your First Dashboard

**Click on +** in the tabstrip or webdock and add the **Dashboard app** from the App Store.  You can create as many dashboards as you need, e.g., for a Project, for a Client, for your Team, or for a task, such as Finance.

Note that a Dashboard icon will appear in the tabtrip/webdock. Click on the **text field** to give your Dashboard a name.

Click on **Add Widget** button, or select one of the quick start widgets. In this example, we'll first add a **Sticky Note** widget.

You can edit most widgets by hovering over the top-right-hand corner of the widget to reveal the Settings.  In the Sticky Note widget, click on the **color palette** icon to change the color of your note.

Most widgets can be resized and moved.  Hover over a corner and **grab a handle** to resize the widget. Click and hold the widget titlebar to drag it to a new position.

Click on the **Add Widget** button top right to launch the Library.

You can add as many widgets from the **Library** as you like, and you can add the same widget more than once. 

Choose the **Tasks** widget from the Library to add it to the Dashboard. Then **click on the new widget** to add your first task.

Click on the **Add Widget** button top right to open the Library and add another widget.

Choose the Collection widget from the Library.

In the Collection widget, click on **Add your first item**.  This will open a pop-up picker window.

You can either **paste in a URL**, such as your company website.  Or you can create a shortcut to an app that's already in Wavebox. In this example we will add an app that's already in Wavebox.

Use the **down arrows** to open groups and find the app you need.

Find the app you want to create the shortcut to.

In the Collection widget, click on the **Add button** to create another shortcut.

Click on the Collection widget **Settings cog** in the top right-hand corner to change the widget layout. The default setting displays your icons as a **Grid**, but you can choose to display them as a **List**. The List view allows you to include a description for the shortcut.

To make changes to how your Dashboard looks, click on the **Settings cog** in the top right hand corner (next to the Add Widget button).  Try **dragging the slider** to change the spacing between widgets.

For a cleaner look you can **check the box** to hide the dashboard title. When hidden, hover over the title to reveal it.

You can choose one of the gradient backgrounds or **upload your image**. For example, if it's a team dashboard, you can customize it with a company-branded image.

Click the **Done** button in the bottom right-hand corner to save your changes.

To create a shortcut to a dashboard in the webdock, right-click on a group icon, select the **Pin Dashboard** option, and choose a dashboard from the list. For example, your 'Projects' group may have its own dashboard. The dashboard icon will appear below the Group icon in the webdock for easy access.

Use on the **burger menu** on the top left to switch between your Dashboards. 

From the burger menu, hover over a Dashboard and then the **kebab menu** (three vertical dots). This reveals another menu where you can set the Dashboard as your new tab page, open settings (Edit), and **Share with a Team**.

As well as creating a new Dashboard via the App Store, you can also create a new Dashboard via the burger menu.  Click on **New Dashboard** to start.

To create a Dashboard that's shared with your team, click on **Private** and choose a team from the list.   Once created, all team users will instantly see the Dashboard in their burger menu.

Using this method to create a new Dashboard, allows you to start with a template.

Select a pre-set background using the thumbnails, click on the **palette icon** to set a color, or click on the **picture icon** to upload your own image.

To generate the new Dashboard, click on the **Create** button bottom right.  If you shared the Dashboard with a team, it will immediately appear in your team's Dashboard burger menu.
